Turning a Front Boundary Wall into a Front Garden Extension in London

This project focused on rethinking the front boundary of a traditional brick home, where bins and bikes had gradually taken over the entrance. The client wanted a clean and organised front garden with storage that didn’t compromise the appearance of the house or its relationship to the street.

The existing wall defined the edge but offered no practical function. Rather than adding storage to the garden, we saw an opportunity to use the boundary itself. By replacing the wall with a carefully designed extension, wrapped around the bay window, we were able to introduce meaningful storage exactly where it was needed.

Finished in a red oxide tone to sit comfortably alongside the existing brickwork, the new boundary accommodates bikes and three large wheelie bins within a single, integrated form. The result is an elegant frontage that feels part of the original house, delivered as a complete architectural solution including planning and construction.
