Bespoke Verde Uno
PROBLEM
- A London family residing in a Georgian terrace sought to renovate their front garden to be both aesthetically pleasing and functional.
- They required secure, discreet storage for five bicycles—two adult and three children's bikes—without compromising the garden's design.
- The challenge was to integrate bike storage seamlessly into a high-end landscape design that also prioritized sustainability.
SOLUTION
- AtlanticBike collaborated with award-winning design studio Butler & Parker and landscape gardeners Acacia Gardens to create a bespoke green roof bike shed.
- The shed featured a low-profile design with a metal frame, timber cladding, and a green roof planted by the designers themselves.
- The structure was finished in opal green to complement the home's brickwork and the surrounding garden palette.
APPROACH
- Custom Design: Developed a tailored bike shed with a unique footprint and access layout to fit the available space and meet user needs.
- Green Roof System: Constructed with a subtle incline for effective drainage, a waterproof membrane, and a drainage filter to support the planting scheme.
- Installation: Collaborated with Acacia Gardens to ensure the shed sat perfectly atop a meticulously laid porous brick base, requiring no adjustments upon installation.
- Integration: Butler & Parker completed the green roof with their planting design, adding 3 square metres of green space to the garden and enhancing the overall aesthetic.
