PROBLEM

• The client had no secure outdoor storage for their two road bikes, used daily for commuting.
• They were planning to invest in a long-tail cargo bike and needed a safe alternative to hallway storage.
• Two large bins dominated the tight front garden, exposed to the elements and detracting from the overall appearance.
• As a keen gardener, the client wanted space to showcase planting and specifically requested a deeper green roof for bespoke greenery.
• The property previously had tall bushes acting as a green privacy barrier, which the client didn’t want to lose.

SOLUTION

AtlanticBike designed and installed a bespoke dual-purpose L-shaped storage unit that:

• Accommodates a long-tail cargo bike and two road bikes, using a narrow-depth 2.5m bike store with both end-on and sliding door access for flexible daily use.
• Integrates a dedicated bin store with an openable lid, providing weatherproof coverage and convenient access to a 240-litre general waste bin.
• Features a generously sized green roof with 125mm soil depth, inclined towards the street to allow for healthy planting and low-maintenance drainage.
• Includes AtlanticBike’s concealed Phantom locking system to ensure robust and discreet bike security.
• Combines durability and elegance through a powder-coated green steel frame and tanalised, pressure-treated timber cladding.

APPROACH

• Custom Design: Engineered a compact, made-to-measure L-shaped structure to maximise storage function within the limited front garden space.
• Material Selection: Built from a long-lasting steel frame, with pressure-treated timber cladding designed to weather attractively and harmonise with the surrounding garden.
• Roof Design: Constructed a deep roof tub to accommodate bespoke planting, sloped for proper water drainage without compromising aesthetics.
• Security Features: Integrated AtlanticBike’s Phantom lock system to deliver high-spec, discreet security for valuable bikes.
• Access Design: Developed dual access points—including an end-on and sliding door for flexible bike storage, and a hinged bin lid for practical daily waste disposal.
