Elegant green roof bike shed enhancing property's value and contributing to neighborhood biodiversity.

Bespoke Verde Muro

PROBLEM

  • A London homeowner faced daily challenges with storing bicycles and bins in a narrow front garden.
  • The existing setup required transporting bikes through the house to the rear garden, causing inconvenience.
  • Bins, recycling boxes, and a food caddy cluttered the front space, detracting from the property's pristine white façade.
  • The homeowner desired a solution that combined functionality, aesthetics, and sustainability.

SOLUTION

Atlanticbike designed a bespoke storage unit that:

  • Accommodates four bicycles, three large bins, recycling boxes, and a food caddy.
  • Features sliding doors facing the street for easy bin access and hinged doors facing the house for bike retrieval.
  • Includes a removable shelf in the bay window area for recycling boxes.
  • Replaces 70% of the previously concreted front garden with a continuous green roof, enhancing biodiversity and visual appeal.
  • Integrates seamlessly with the property's architecture, using high-durability hardwood cladding and a matt white powder-coated structure.

APPROACH

Design & Planning:

  • Conducted an initial consultation and site assessment.
  • Drafted design specifications and obtained homeowner approval within approximately one week.
  • Prepared and submitted planning documentation, liaising with the local council to secure approval in 8–12 weeks.

Manufacturing & Installation:

  • Manufactured the unit in AtlanticBike's family workshop over 6–8 weeks.
  • Prepared the site by removing the existing front garden wall, relaying slabs, and clearing weeds in 1–2 days.
  • Delivered and installed the unit with approved installers in 1–2 days.

Customization:

  • Designed the shed to fit snugly around the bay window and entrance pillar, achieving millimetric precision.
  • Incorporated a built-in slot for easy access to the house’s internet modems.
